Announcing Let's BEE Friendly in Cookham Rise

What is it and Why Should You Care?
A project to encourage everyone in Cookham Rise to plant more bee-friendly plants, do a bit to help save the planet, and have a bit of fun. The project aims to encourage the residents of Cookham Rise to plant more bee and pollinator-friendly plants in their front gardens. With a climate emergency declared in the Royal Borough, we all need to do what we can to help reverse the impact of climat change. And who doesn't love to walk down the streets in our community and see a plant covered in bees?

The Scheme
The basic concept is that we provide each resident of Cookham Rise a voucher for a bee-friendly plant from Vernons Plant Sale in Cookham Rise. Your voucher is worth £10 for one of a special collection of bee and pollinator plants and we ask you to pay half (£5.00). Of course, if you want to buy more we'd just love that too.

We will publish a list of eligible plants and work with Vernons to create some specific offers for the vouchers. The plants would be available for collection at the end of March 2020. All the specifics are yet to be organised!

More Information
This project is in the early planning stages and lots of details need to be locked down. We'll be publishing more information as it becomes available Please feel free to comment either on this blog or via email (see below).

There is to be a public meeting in the new year to introduce the scheme and hopefully learn a bit more about the things we can do to improve life for our bees and other pollinators. And you should soon start to read about it in the media and online too.
